State of Satellites
State of the Data
State of GeoAI
State of Capacity
State of Applications
Where we stand across satellites, data, AI, capacity, and applications? Hear the latest on the full stack of this ecosystem from the leaders that know it best. Five talks from the people operating the constellations, running the data pipelines, developing the AI models, scaling impactful applications, and developing trust with people to use it all.
The crises in front of us, where we need to be paying closer attention, and what we can only solve by building together. Some problems are too big, too urgent, or too cross-cutting for any one organization to solve alone.
Networking with coffee and snacks provided.
Two panels, one conversation. On one side, the satellite builders and operators talking candidly about how they engage with humanitarian, research, and public-sector users, what's shifting in coverage and access, and the tradeoffs they navigate every day. On the other, the responders, researchers, and implementers putting that imagery to work with concrete stories from the field about what worked, what didn't, and where the gap between "technically possible" and "operationally usable" affects their work. Together, we'll surface the tensions, challenges, and opportunities that shape this relationship — and give each side a chance to speak directly to the other.
Lunch is provided and we hope you are able to catch up with colleagues and meet new people.
Join us in our session to learn a cohesive workflow that is useful in both humanitarian and geospatial intelligence. In our talk, learn how to extract data from SAR imagery and run analytics against it leveraging cloud-native and AI-enabled workflows that are critical in the face of real-time analytical requirements, and then see how the analytical products can be brought into web application tools to further analyze and explore the data to uncover useful information. Attendees will leave with:

Space law is racing to keep pace with a fast-moving industry. In this fireside chat, Kevin Pomfret joins us to unpack where the rules stand, where they're still being written, and what that means for anyone working with commercial and geospatial data. Expect a candid, wide-ranging conversation on where the law is headed, and what it means for everyone building on satellite data today.
AI can detect, classify, predict, and analyze at scales that were unimaginable just a few years ago. But what happens when those capabilities aren't just a demo and influence decisions that affect people's lives? Practitioners share what happened when they actually put AI to work. Real outcomes, real stakes, real lessons learned.
Trust in imagery used to be assumed; now it has to be earned every time. This block confronts fabricated and manipulated satellite imagery head-on. We'll examine what transparency actually requires, and what the community needs to do collectively so one bad actor doesn't undermine trust in everyone's work.

Part hackathon, part speed dating. Instead of a panel or a deck, we bring a blank Data Studio and build it in the room with attendees. We'll pitch a theme, break participants out and rotate them through small groups to source and vet datasets, tools, and workflows, then reconvene to stitch the pieces into a data studio by the end of the session. Everyone who contributes gets credited as a co-author of the resulting studio.

How do you survive an institutional crisis? Reinvent yourself amid a changing landscape? And what's the role of imagery in your success and resilience — the same today, or changed along the way? This session sits down with leaders who've been through it: the funding cliffs, the mission pivots, the moments an organization had to become something different to keep going.
From the Ebola response to the Colombia-Venezuela earthquakes to the Nepal floods, the same cycle keeps repeating: the imagery could have changed everything if only it had reached the right hands in time. This session asks what it will actually take to break that cycle, so imagery shows up early enough to help save the day instead of just documenting it afterward
When and how journalists decide to use satellite imagery, the impacts and the costs, and their calls to action for this community. A single image can anchor a story, corroborate a source, or make an atrocity impossible to ignore, but the decision to run it is rarely simple. This session pulls back the curtain on that decision-making process: what journalists weigh before publishing, what it costs them when they get it wrong, and what they wish this community understood better.
This workshop explores the intersection of “explainable AI” and uncertainty quantification for tools that rely on satellite data + AI for decision-support. As it seems like the data science/computer science community is moving towards more “black box” like systems, how can the remote sensing science community play a role in evaluation, testing, and building tools for others to evaluate? Join us for a community discussion about what needs to be measured, why, what’s challenging about doing so, who’s having success, and how to communicate uncertainty in this new realm of agents.

Join us for a fireside chat and listening session with Cassie Lee, VP of Business Development at Star Catcher, the company building the first power grid in space. What would more power on orbit unlock for this community? Could it support emergency response, for example? Come with your use cases — this is a listening session as much as a presentation.
From courtroom evidence to service delivery for conflict-affected communities, the full range of what satellite imagery can bear witness to. A single image can testify to an atrocity, a displacement, a community's existence and need for services when no one else is looking. Expect a candid look at what it actually takes for imagery to hold up as credible evidence once it leaves the analyst's screen.
