About
Shoaib Burq is founder of Decision Labs in Berlin. He trained as a geomatic engineer and computer scientist, with a specialisation in marine mapping, including ocean-mapping work at Geoscience Australia. At Decision Labs he builds Geobase, a backend for location apps, and Verisat.ai, which checks whether satellite imagery has been manipulated.
He also collaborates with Vertical52, the Berlin satellite-journalism studio that helps newsrooms use imagery from orbit, including the NDR/STRG_F cotton-harvest investigation in western China (German Reporter Award 2022) and a Gaza damage tracker used by NZZ, Handelsblatt, Correctiv and others. Together they are working on the chain of custody of satellite imagery that can be used in legal and other high-trust contexts.
