About
Sarah Cahlan is the visual investigations editor for the Reuters global enterprise team. Since starting the team in 2025, she has edited stories that utilized remote sensing data to identify a secret camp in Ethiopia used to train fighters for the Rapid Support Forces, document China's civilian shadow navy, reconstruct the violence in al-Fashir, and reveal U.S. military upgrades at a long-abandoned Cold War-era naval base in the Caribbean. Before Reuters, she was a founding member of the Washington Post's visual forensics team, where she used satellite data to locate Wagner's camp at an abandoned base in Belarus after their mutiny and subsequent withdrawal from Russia, investigate a deadly strike on journalists in Gaza, and identify a massive grave Iran built for coronavirus victims.
