About

Quito Tsui is a PhD Student in Environmental Social Sciences at Stanford University where she focuses on technology use in complex deployment contexts, and the significance of the built and physical environment in sustainable transitional justice efforts. She is currently working to understanding the ethical stakes of technology use as part of evidentiary practices in international legal contexts. Prior to Stanford, Quito advised and produced original research for humanitarian organisations, INGOs and civil society organisations on a range of subject matter including biometrics, digital identity and AI. She holds an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge.

    From courtroom evidence to service delivery for conflict-affected communities, the full range of what satellite imagery can bear witness to. A single image can testify to an atrocity, a displacement, a community's existence and need for services when no one else is looking. Expect a candid look at what it actually takes for imagery to hold up as credible evidence once it leaves the analyst's screen.
