About
Laura Guzmán is Deputy Program Lead of NASA Lifelines, a NASA-funded initiative that connects humanitarian practitioners with Earth observation data. Lifeline's work builds community between the people producing satellite-derived information and the responders and decision-makers using it.
Laura has spent 14 years helping mission-driven organizations navigate complexity, mostly in the tech-and-society space. She previously co-led The Engine Room, a global nonprofit advancing digital rights through research and direct support, where she oversaw the research practice, including work on biometrics and chatbots in the humanitarian sector. Earlier in her career, she worked at Open Society Foundations, Carto, and iMerit, a Kolkata-based social enterprise working in machine learning and AI. Currently, she serves on the boards of Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team and Wonderfolk.
