About
Dr. Deepak Joshi is an Assistant Professor and Extension Precision Agriculture Specialist in the Department of Agronomy at Kansas State University. His research and Extension program focuses on applying Earth observation, remote sensing, artificial intelligence, and data analytics to address real-world agricultural challenges and improve on-farm decision-making. His work integrates satellite imagery, drones, ground-based sensors, and geospatial data to support crop monitoring, precision management, assessment of regenerative and conservation agriculture practices, and evaluation of crop damage from extreme weather events such as hailstorms.
Dr. Joshi works closely with farmers, Extension professionals, and interdisciplinary research teams across Kansas to translate emerging digital agriculture technologies into practical applications. A major emphasis of his program is connecting research with real farm conditions through on-farm case studies and demonstrations. He is also a 2026 NASA Lifelines Impact Fellow and is actively involved in developing educational and workforce-development programs in digital agriculture and AI.
