About
Maia C. Tarnas is a Senior Research Fellow with NASA Lifelines and a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Washington. She uses spatial and infectious disease epidemiology, Earth observation, statistical modeling, and medical geography to assess how armed conflict and displacement actively influence people's disease risk. Maia also consults for the World Health Organization's Health and Migration Program in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University. She holds a PhD in Public Health from the University of California, Irvine, where she was an F31 Fellow through the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
