On November 18–19, we’re bringing together people from across the satellite, geospatial, research, government, humanitarian, and development communities for two days of presentations, panels, technical talks, lightning talks, roundtables, and debate. And there is a lot to talk about.
We’ll open the Summit with our State of Play, taking stock of five areas shaping Earth observation right now. Dr. Kumar Navulur, Dr. Hannah Kerner, Maggie Cawley, Dr. Catherine Nakalembe, and Dr. Karl Wurster will set the scene across satellites, GeoAI, data, capacity, and applications before we dig deeper into those questions throughout the program.
From there, the agenda gets into some of the tensions and opportunities facing the field right now: how AI is changing what we can do with Earth observation; what happens when funding and access to data shift; how organizations are turning increasingly abundant satellite data into useful information; and how these technologies are being applied across climate, agriculture, humanitarian response, natural resources, and other real-world challenges.
Expect conversations that cross the usual boundaries between technology and application, commercial and public interests, research and operations, and data and decision-making.
That mix is central to SatSummit. We’re interested not only in what the technology can do, but what happens when people try to put it to work: what’s working, what isn’t, who has access, and what the Earth observation community needs to tackle next.
And, as always, there will be plenty of time built in for the conversations that happen between sessions, too.
