About
Devin Jacobs is the Lead Conservation/Geospatial Technologist on the Jane Goodall Institute's Conservation Science team, where he has worked since 2022. He leads tool and architecture development for the team, working with local communities and internal staff to match the right technology to on-the-ground conservation challenges. His work spans a range of technologies — including geospatial analysis, remote sensing, camera traps, bioacoustics, and AI — to build systems that monitor the impact of JGI's conservation efforts and pilot new tools that shift how the organization protects chimpanzee habitats and supports community-led conservation. His data products have been featured in U.N. Symposia on Conservation Technology, in Esri CEO Jack Dangermond's plenary presentations, and at COP28.
Before JGI, Devin spent five years at Vantor (formerly Maxar/DigitalGlobe), where he developed automation and custom geospatial solutions for internal teams and customers, and supported the Open Data Program. He holds a B.S. in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University and an M.S. in Conservation Biogeography from the University of Nevada, Reno.
