Carolina Sá

EO Project Officer at Portuguese Space Agency.

About

At the Portuguese Space Agency, Carolina Sá is responsible for following the Earth Observation programmes. Coming from the world of Marine Sciences, she was led to the field of satellite remote sensing by the desire to study microscopic aquatic plants (i.e. phytoplankton) from a different perspective - from Space! She specialised in ocean colour remote sensing systems and worked as a researcher for over ten years, focusing on satellite data validation activities and marine environment applications. Promoting ways to bridge the gap between Earth Observation research and applications, science and industry, technology and society is one of her main tasks.

On the agenda

  1. Understanding Marine Ecosystems

    Nov. 18 '24, 16:00
    Session
    Haddad

Oceans cover over 70% of the earth’s surface and play a vital role for global food security and in regulating the earth’s climate. At the same time, marine ecosystems are among the least understood of ecosystems. The panelists of this session explore how we can leverage Earth Data to improve our understanding of these systems. What other technologies and data should we look at to overcome some of the inherent limitations of EO.
